"when you think your done, do 2 more reps".  This has worked wonders for me.  I seriously thought I was done, but I somehow manage to get 2 more reps out (even if they are half reps).

Great one, Jennie! That goes hand in hand with "Good enough is NEVER good enough!"

Anyone else?

 . . . . hmmm . . . . we seem to have a common theme going here! lol!

Do we have any other tips besides rep until you die? lol!

Another tip:

Don't waste your precious energy on doing cardio before your weight training. You need all your strength and energy for weight lifting so that you can have a strong workout. Save your cardio for AFTER your weight training and use up whatever energy you have left.

Is there any way I can avoid the following:
Every time training is going great, I:
Either get sick or get injured. Always. I hate it!
Last week, I was so stupid to visit a friend who works in a hospital at work - what was the result? Noro virus all the way. I lost 3 kgs in just two days... (I am not complaining, just wanted to make some room for my frustration here).
Anybody else having this experience? A way to get around?

And then take LOTS of extra glutamine to keep your immune system up (and help repair any injuries)!

I am sorry to hear about your loss, Tolque...  sad1

With me it has been pretty much the same - but even more being very busy at work or having to go away for a bit, leaving no time for the gym. Then it is like starting all over again. The only part going well is legs.  happy I can finally do legs workout without pain in my knee. Probably because of kre alkalyn, omega 3, maybe glutamine and some luck, too?  unsure

Tolque, I am sorry to hear you had the Noro virus, that one is brutal!!  ( I work in a hospital I know all about it!). Wendy can agree with me here in that I have had my fair share of chronic injuries.  The best thing I ever did was find a personal trainer (in this case wendy) as she was able to correct my technique so I didn't do any further injury.  She was also great in working along with my physiotherapist's recommendation to modify my training program.  Having someone who is certified in personal training really can make a difference in your training.
I remember after my back injury being very afraid to do deadlifts and when I felt any pain I would give up on that exercise.  However with Wendy's help, supervision, and encouragement I am now deadlifting 185lbs no problem.  Also listen to Wendy on the Glutamine recommendation, that stuff works like magic! The only other I do to keep me going is I go to massage therapy every 2 weeks as it really helps keep the muscles from tightening up too much (and have a physiotherapist available when needed, lol).
Hang in there, the more routine your training becomes, the better your body will do, and you'll become stronger which should help prevent some injuries!

Funnily, I never get injured in training. Never. Its always something else, may it be biking, cooking, or even in bed. Whatever,
I am just too good at injuring myself. The funny thing about the norovirus was, that I even did clean my hands with desinfection, but
it was one that does NOT work against the norovirus. The bottle for the norovirus was standing next by, not touched by me... :-P

Thanks for the advice on glutamine! I knew that L-Carnitine does work good for your imune system as well (at last, a use for it).

Hi arjelyn06 . . . that's great that you've tried some of the tips and that you are feeling better!

You also helped me to remember about this thread and that I have neglected it!

Today's tip: sleep is one of the most important factors in attaining your fitness goals, whether your goals are weight/bodycomposition-related or performance-related. 8 hours sleep each night is optimal! For those who don't get enough sleep each night, there is nothing wrong with catching a nap!
